The Salvation Army’s Annual Civic Celebration is one of Syracuse’s most enduring community events, which attracts over 700 community and business leaders as well as individual supporters of The Salvation Army. The Civic Celebration is an event to honor selected community members for their civic and charitable efforts, to update supporters on our work, and to hear from a nationally known speaker.Lt. Col. Kenneth Hodder, who serves as the Chief Secretary of The Salvation Army in the East Kenya Territory will serve as this year’s keynote speaker in recognition of Central New York’s commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army. Community Team Spirit Awards will be given to Time Warner Cable - CNY Division President Mary Cotter, just prior to her retirement at the end of this year, and Chancellor Nancy Cantor will accept an award presented to Syracuse University’s School of Social Work on its 50th anniversary; and The Salvation Army in Syracuse will celebrate its 125th anniversary in this community. A silent auction will once again be held this year. Over 6 dozen items will be available to bid on.
