The TAPC is a supportive apartment and parenting center specifically designed for young girls between the ages of 16–21 who are pregnant or already parenting.  Comprehensive services and certified day care facilities are offered on site in order to prevent these vulnerable young families from becoming homeless or returning back to a life on the streets.  In addition to providing each of the 24 girls with their own furnished apartment, the TAPC offers 24-hour crisis support and supervision, case management, independent living skills, parent education, social events and recreational activities.  The primary focus of the TAPC is to assist residents with obtaining the necessary skills for independent living and effective parenting while at the same time equipping them for educational advancement and ongoing employment.

Letter from former TAPC resident
In my heart, I believe there is a deeper purpose to the Parenting Center. I know this is a program for pregnant and parenting teenage females, but in my eyes, I see more. I see adults - adults who work for people such as us to make things possible in our futures. Some of those adults have even been in our same situation. I believe that the people who work for this program truly believe in who we are and what we are capable of. But it is up to us to be our own inspiration. Success is only possible with self-determination and self-motivation. As much as staff can believe in us and tell us its possible - we must put in the effort. I know school, work and motherhood is hard, trust me, I do all three. These things are even harder when you're young and when people doubt you. But forget those who don't believe in you. I do believe in everyone in here and so does all the staff at the parenting center.

If you really believe in yourself that's the only thing you need to have to get through in life. Keep believing in yourself and good things will come. Never give up and never let anyone tell you your dreams are unrealistic. I pray that everyone will succeed in the goals they have set for themselves.

May everyone who reads this and agrees please voice your opinion and extend a helping hand to those who need it.

Thank you,
Amanda Steinbrecher
